| WHO: |
All images displayed here were conceived and executed by the artist.
Randy studied painting and illustration in San Francisco. He now teaches at California
College of the Arts. |
| WHERE: |
His home and studio lie across the Golden Gate Bridge in the town of Mill Valley. |
| WHAT: |
What he paints is influenced by the work of the Renaissance. The author Gabriel Marquez,
and his magic realist writings provide the conceptual inspiration. |
| WHEN: |
Randy begins his paintings when there is a concept possessing the essential elements of a
strong first "read", a story, and of course, an opinion. |
| HOW: |
The artist first prepares a canvas on a birch panel support. He then "builds"
each picture from a complete and fixed brown pencil drawing, over which he applies acrylic
translucent glazes and opaques. |
| WHY: |
Randy creates paintings because he feels it´s his responsibility to play with people´s
perceptions, because he enjoys asking "what if?" and most important,
so that his friends will like him. |
